About me
I'm a Capitol Bureau reporter for the Sacramento Bee, the newspaper of record in California’s capital. I cover the state Legislature, policymaking and Capitol-goings-on.
Prior to joining the Bee, I was a reporter for the San Luis Obispo Tribune, a McClatchy sister paper on the Central Coast. I spent six years covering local government, housing and everything in between.
I grew up in Greenville, Illinois, a 7,000-person town about an hour east of St. Louis. (Go Cardinals!)
I'm an alum of two Chicago-area schools: DePaul University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in English, and Northwestern University, where I earned a master's degree in journalism.
Before moving to the West Coast, I worked as a reporter for the Rockford Register Star in northwestern Illinois, where I covered poverty, housing and city government.
